Apologies for this not having ended on the 28th, but I've been caught up in other things and also full of whatever virus is doing the rounds, so this will be running until tomorrow.

Well, an early morning visit to the allotment this morning showed the benefit of netting off my winter stuff this year. Two rows of overwintering broad beans and a row of red onions have done far better than usual and I can only assume someone else is getting the visits from the local rabbit population this winter. :]

In the end, the total number was 133, so no-one came close, but @Robbi was the nearest, so If you let me have your address details I'll get it posted off to you. :)

Wow, good crop. I'd looked at the coming weather and thought "no chance".

Robbi should like that, he's one of those bushcraft fellas. :)

Assuming there is no predation or other drama I'm going to need to thin out the beans. I usually plant them twice as close as they need to be in order to allow for non-starters, but this year there is barely a gap and the sparrows have even left my onions in the ground too. That said, there's plenty of time for something to intervene. I look upon the overwintered stuff as a belt and braces approach to beans and onions. It's a bonus if both they and the summer ones come good, but two crops give a better chance of one good one if one or other fails.
